* James Symons aged 22 his wife Matilda Pascoe aged 22 and an infant Josephine came out to Australia on the ship Sultana which left Plymouth, United Kingdom on 2 November 1853 and arrived in South Australia, Adelaide port on the 3 February 1854. He was accompanied by his brother Matthew aged 20 and sister in-law Susannah aged 26. In the shipping records it shows that they came from Cornwall and that James and Matthew were miners.
