Antonio Baya

P Shown as father of Jose BAYA in 1777, St Augustine.

and husband of Juana XIMENES.

Jose Baya

[mh1tobob.FTW]

B LDS IGI-FL (as of APR 1988) Page 168, Batch 7717205, Ser Sh 65
Parents: Antonio BAYA & Juana XIMENES. However, from the following
LDS microfilm #0,873,775, Item 4 "Translation and Transcription of Church
Archives of Florida, Roman Catholic Records, St. Augustine Parish, White
Baptisms 1792-1799, Vol. 2" - Entry 447 is the following record: "Antonio
Mariano Magine BAYANA, born May 21, 1798. Baptized May 26, 1798. Son of
JOSEF BAYANO, native of San Agustin, son of Antonio and Juana XIMENEZ, and
RAFAELA ALCINA, native of San Agustin, daughter of Antonio and Rafaela CAPO.
(Possible Josef dropped the "f" from his first name as well as the "-no"
from his surname? What nationality would Josef Bayano have been?)

M LDS IGI-FL (as of APR 1988) Page 168, Batch 7717205, Ser Sh 75
Wife: Rafaela USINA.
Note record above. Apparently someone misread ALCINA for USINA. All
the entries in the San Agustin church records indicate the name was ALCINA.

Rafaela Alcina

M LDS IGI-FL (as of APR 1988) Batch 7717205, Ser Sh 75
to Jose BAYA, 01 JAN 1796.

See notes on record of Josef Baya(no). Actual name incorrectly read as
USINA, actually is ALCINA. See LDS microfilm #0,873,775 - Item 4,
Entry 447.

BAYA (not "Baja" as we had thought.) Batch #7225822, Serial Sheet 39.
Also, her surname had apparently been changed from BAYANO by her father.

N Finally found this lady. The family name is BAYA, not Baja!
Located above info 7/27/89 at LDS library in San Diego.

BAJA/BAYA, Joanna (Mrs Joan) -- questions about the surname.
There is a note from Elizabeth Iwanowski O'NEIL to CEQ (her cousin) dated
17 May 1961 as follows:
"Doll dear, I have been looking at the Baptism Certificate of R T Masters
you sent me a few years ago and note that you made out the name of R T Masters'
mother as BAJA. I think the name is RAKE (or RAPE) - (look at your Baptismal
Certificate of R T M again). I remember Mama and Grandma Masters talking of
the Rake family as being related."
