Ann Woolley

Ann Woolley's first husband William Hollands died in England in 1844,when his youngest daughter Emily was 2 years old.
Ann and five of her 10 children, Edward, Jane, Charlotte, Henry and Emilymigrated to the United States in 1851. (see notes below)
1850 Grauga Co census shows Ann's birth as Scotland.
They settled in Chagrin Falls, Ohio, where she had Claggett relativesfrom her sister Maria, and then moved to Eldorado, Wisconsin, about 1856.
After living there a while, Ann moved to a town in southern Wisconsincalled Delavan, but left her children from her first marriage to WilliamHollands with her brother William in Eldorado. Her son Henry marriedCornelia Dines and had moved to Moncalm County, Michigan.
Ann Wooley was re-married to a widower named William Featherstone who hadtwo sons named William and Francis and a daughter Sarah
in Walworth twp Walworth Co. Wisconcin

Ann Hollands and her family sailed from South Hampton, England and landedin Quebec. Moved to Ohio. Ann and some of her children, including Henry,moved Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin from 1854 to 1857. Henry returned toOhio and bought a farm, but sold it and moved to Michigan with only $3 inhis pocket. He built a 100 acre farm along with a grainary, had 10-15Jersey cows and McGee hogs. He was a School Director and DrainageCommissioner. member of Patrons of Industry. Rebulican and in his firstelectionvoted for Abraham Lincoln. He was a delegate to the countyconventions.
They raised a young woman named Cora Loveland, as a daughter. Shemarried a Mr. Vance.

Edward and Mary Ann Pressnell- Hollands left England in June 1851.Besides themselves and their children, George, Elizabeth and Amy, thegroup included: William and Ann Wooley-Hollands-Featherstone; Edward'sbrothers Joseph and Henry; and his sisters, Charlotte, Jane and Emily.After landing in New York, they proceeded to Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Annhad family already living there. One of the reasons the Wooley's hadleft England was because of the religious beliefs, they were WesleyeanMethodist. In a year or two, Edward and Mary then moved on toWisconsin. When they first came to this country, Edward worked as a farmhand, trying to save money to by his own farm.

There was a certain amount of bad feelings when Ann Wooley-Featherstoneleft her children from her first marriage with various relatives in Ohioand went off to Delavan with her new husband and family. Edward Wooleywent to visit his mother and was told in not so many words that thechildren from the first marriage were not welcome there.

In late 1886, Edward Wooley and his second wife moved to North Dakota.He ended up owning two farms, one of 120 acres, and another of 40 acres.He gave 40 of his 120 acres to his son Will, the 40 acre farm was givento to his son Joseph.

Mary Ann Pressnell

Mary Ann was a Servant in England, working at various posts until shebecame a cook. She worked at several schools until she went to work fora well-to-do London family. Her brother Stephen was apprenticed to adraper and followed that profession both in England and later when hemoved to South Africa. Mary Ann never learned to read or write.
